Affect as Technical Object
軍事備戰下的物質環境與戰後視覺影像（尤其是對於速度、連結、網絡等形式的再現）有何內在關聯？二十世紀戰後文化對科技現代性的想像，究竟是延續戰爭體制對閱聽大眾的控管？還是隱含了前衛美學的發生契機？我目前進行的研究計畫“Speculative Statecraft: Logistical Media and the Culture of Chinese Cold War, 1940-1970s ”，正是探究中、港、台三地在全球冷戰體制下，從戰爭後勤物流（logistics）轉變至戰後勞動生產過程中， 如何透過影像與修辭，來布置感官經驗及其蘊含的情動（affect）形式。我將導讀John Peters 對於基礎媒介／基礎設施的雙重性思考，以及 Bernhard Siegert對工業技術的文化批評，透過這兩位作者，進一步闡述我如何在自己的研究中串起科學工業論述、環境與影像媒介之間的關聯，並藉此重思冷戰政治宣傳媒介（小說、電影、 報刊）中的視覺與修辭形式。

楊子樵，美國加州大學柏克萊分校 (UC Berkeley)博士候選人。主修現代華語文學與媒介文化，副修歐陸批判理論。研究聚焦於冷戰軍事動員體系與媒介環境間的感官美學形式。曾獲美國國務院傅爾布萊特計畫(The Fulbright Program) 獎助、 Andrew W. Mellon基金會全球都市人文計畫出版獎助、 柏克萊大學批判理論學位論文獎助。曾主編柏克萊大學環境設計學院刊物 Room One Thousand 並擔任北美台灣研究學會 (North American Taiwan Studies Association) 執行長。現為中央研究院人文社會科學博士培訓計畫成員。學術論文可見於Symploke: A Journal for the Intermingling of Literary, Cultural and Theoretical Scholarship 等刊物。
